Raymond is a litigation and dispute resolution lawyer with a primary focus on banking and finance litigation and insolvency.

Raymond has experience acting for insolvency practitioners, major financial institutions, ASX listed companies in matters involving mortgage and other securities enforcement, debt recovery and the enforcement of various finance facilities.

Raymond has acted in matters in the Supreme, County and Magistrates Court of Victoria, Federal Court of Australia and various other jurisdictions.

Experience

Raymond’s recent experience includes:

  • acting for a large international cryptocurrency exchange to recover substantial funds it had mistakenly paid to a customer;
  • acting for private lenders and ADIs in respect of mortgage enforcement and recovery action, including mortgagee sales;
  • acting for creditors in bankrupt and winding up proceedings in both the Federal and Supreme Courts;
  • advising the receiver appointed over a construction company in respect of the sale of a Mornington shopping centre owned by the company, including acting in a VCAT proceeding against a tenant of the shopping centre;
  • advising a liquidator in respect of the liquidation of a large construction company, including acting in relation to a dispute with the head contractor on the Western Roads Upgrade Project;
  • acting and advising financial firms in respect of complaints made to the Australian Financial Complaints Authority;
  • advising persons in relation to investigations conducted by ASIC; and
  • advising a secured creditor of a large refrigerated transport company placed into liquidation in relation to the enforcement of its facilities, and acting in relation to the recovery of debts owing.
