Nick has over 14 years’ experience in leading transactional banking and finance teams. Nick advises bank, institutional, alternative and private financiers, as well as sponsors and borrowers on a broad range of domestic and cross border jurisdictional financing transactions. He has particular expertise in working capital and limited recourse projects and property financing and is known for his pragmatic, commercially focused approach.

Nick is committed to delivering transactions on time while maintaining targeted due diligence, assessment and balanced risk management.

Having commenced practice at the time of the introduction of the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth), Nick has developed an in depth understanding of its application across a wide range of financing and commercial contexts.

Experience

Nick’s recent experience includes:

  • Acting for the developer and sponsors for the syndicated construction and term financing of the Collector Wind Farm (NSW)
  • Acting for the developer and sponsors for the syndicated construction and term financing of the Suntop and Gunnedah Solar Farms (NSW)
  • Acting for an oil and gas producer on the refinancing of its syndicated facilities, including to acquire an additional gas plant asset
  • Acting for a domestic bank on a bilateral sustainability linked loan for a US based recycling project
  • Acting for a domestic bank on its bilateral financing to Centure Capital Group for a number of built assets
  • Acting for an alternative financier for many senior and mezzanine construction facilities in Victoria and New South Wales, notably a $100m staged mezzanine financing of Victoria Square, Footscray and a senior facility for the acquisition and development of the Alphington Paper Mill Site (now Yarra Bend)
  • Acting for an alternative financier for bilateral and clubbed senior facilities for development financings in Victoria and Queensland, including the Armstrong Creek Town Centre (Vic)
  • Acting for the sponsors and developer financing the construction of the LightHouse, Melbourne as well as various ancillary facilities
  • Acting for a listed IT hardware and software supplier on its $100m receivables purchaser program with a domestic bank, as well as ancillary domestic and international working capital facilities
  • Acting for an institutional syndicate sponsor on its portfolio restructure and refinancing of an Australian renewable developer’s projects.rious ancillary facilities
  • Acting for a national tree plantation business on general leasing matters and land tenure arrangements for renewable projects
  • Acting for a national vehicle financier in connection with regulatory and compliance issues

Pro Bono & Community Work

Nick acted for the Consumer Law Action Centre on its review and governmental representations in respect of legislation for the Cashless Debit Card Trial in indigenous communities.
