Legal Expertise


Marcus has vast knowledge of employment law and has advised corporate clients during all stages of employment matters and across diverse industries including retail, manufacturing, transport and healthcare.

He advises on all types of termination of employment issues – from defending employers in unfair dismissal and adverse action claims to assisting employers with managing ill and injured employees.

In addition, Marcus assists clients in various WorkCover aspects and defending occupational health and safety prosecutions brought by WorkSafe Victoria.


Marcus’ recent experience includes:

  • representing clients in unfair dismissal and adverse action matters;
  • representing clients in workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment and bullying allegations, and compliance with anti-discrimination laws;
  • drafting employment agreements, enterprise bargaining agreements and workplace policies;
  • advising on the interpretation and application of employment agreements and industrial instruments;
  • working with clients to assess return to work capacity issues via functional capacity evaluations and medical assessments;
  • advising clients on issues surrounding ill and injured workers, including mental health in the workplace;
  • helping clients understand their obligations under the relevant workplace health and safety laws;
  • advising clients on defence strategy following Serious Injury Application claims for damages at common law; and
  • WorkCover Industry Classification and premium reviews.

Marcus has previously participated in a Social Justice Fellowship at JobWatch (December 2014).
